The pass price includes travel in Coach Class on Amtrak trains, Business Class travel is available with

the payment of a surcharge.

 

Coach Class:

  • Amtrak's 2nd Class service
  • Large comfortable reclining seats come with fold-down tray table
  • Overhead reading light and overhead rack for your luggage
  • Almost every seat has a panoramic window, so travellers can enjoy all of the passing scenery
  • On board there is plenty of room to walk around and stretch out, with restrooms conveniently located in every car.

  Business Class:

  • Amtrak's 1st Class service
  • Business Class is offered as an upgrade to Coach Class seating on many of long distance and short distance trains.
  • Every seat is reserved, with ample legroom and many variable amenities.
  • Standard AC electrical outlets for every pair of seats. A complimentary non-alcoholic beverage served in the Cafe Car (available on many short-to medium-distance trips)
  • Conference tables
  • Complimentary newspaper (on some trips)
  • Trains offer a Dining Car (offers full menus in restaurant-style service for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • This car type is available on long-distance trains) or a CafĂ© Car (offers a variety of tasty sandwiches and snacks).

Prices are subject to the following fees: Online bookings: $9 per pass/ticket per person online fee, capped at a maximum of $50 per booking. FARE TYPES Adult Child aged 2- 15 years inclusive, pay 50% of the adult fare. Infant aged under 2 travel free when not occupying a seat CHILDREN'S RULE Children 2 to 15 years old ride for half-price when accompanied by a full fare-paying adult. Two children are permitted per adult fare. One child under 2 years old may ride free with each fare-paying adult. VALIDITY Up to 18 city to city journeys* within a 45 day travel period. VALIDATION Travel must be completed within 180 days of pass issuance. TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS All Amtrak passes are valid for travel in 'Coach Class' only - overnight accommodation or upgrades to Business Class are available at an additional surcharge. Reservations are required on all trains and can be confirmed prior to your departure from Australia or organised locally. A segment equals one city to city pair; a segment is defined by when you get on and off a train, not by the length of journey. Travel is restricted to four one-way trips between two cities, and to all cities in between, over the same route. For example, the following trips would use up the four trips over the Washington, DC to New York route segment: Trip 1: Washington, DC to New York Trip 2: New York to Washington, DC Trip 3: Washington, DC to Philadelphia Trip 4: Philadelphia to Washington, DC The pass is valid for travel on all Amtrak trains, Thruway motorcoach connection and the Canadian portion of trains operated jointly by Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada. Amtrak passes do not allow travel on the Acela Express, Metroliner Trains or Autotrains. Valid for travel within the U.S. and between the U.S. and cities in Canada, including Surrey, BC; Richmond, BC; Vancouver, BC; Niagara Falls ON; Montreal, QC; and St. Lambert, QC. Travel to any other city in Canada requires separate fare and ticket, payable to Amtrak or Via Rail Canada. EXCHANGE OR REFUND Pass must be completely unused and must be returned to the issuing office within 1 year from date of issue. Approved refunds will incur a cancellation penalty of 25%. LOST OR STOLEN RAIL PASSES Pass is non-exchangeable and non-refundable if lost or stolen. Should passes require re issue then AUD$25 fee applies. A 10% cancellation penalty will be applied to all refunds for all services, with a maximum fee of USD$100 per refund transaction. A processing fee of AUD$30 will be charged per refund.
