Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ'S]
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND CLASS?
First class offers more space with fewer seats per compartment or car. There is more room for luggage and generally will be less crowded as most Europeans using the train travel in second class.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE EURAILPASS AND EURAIL SELECTPASS?
The Eurailpass covers 17 countries which include: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland and can be purchased as a consecutive day pass or flexipass. The Eurail Selectpass allows travel within 3 adjoining/bordering countries covered by the Eurailpass.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONSECUTIVE DAYS PASS AND A FLEXIPASS
The consecutive pass is valid for the number of days purchased. For example, a 15-day pass is 15 days in a row, June 1 to June 15. You do not have to travel every day if you do not wish, but you do not get a refund for unused days. The Flexipass offers the flexibility of purchasing a number of travel days, which can be used within a specified period.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A DAY ON MY RAIL PASS?
A day on a Railpass allows you to travel as much as you'd like up until midnight. Exception:- When you are using a direct overnight train where the journey begins after 7pm, this may be counted as the following day of travel.

DOES MY PASS COVER SLEEPERS?
When travelling on a Railpass and a sleeper is required you will need to pay a supplement on your pass. This can be booked up to 2 months prior the travel date.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE OR MISPLACE MY PASS?
Passes are non-refundable if lost or stolen. So we recommend that you have Travel Insurance prior to your departure. You will need to purchase a new pass or sector tickets to continue your travels.

WHEN DO I NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR A TRAIN?
It is compulsory to have a reservation on all Premier trains and most high-speed trains. A pass does not guarantee you a seat, sleeper or couchette. You must purchase a reservation when you want to secure yourself on a particular train. Surcharges will apply. Rail Tickets charge a Booking fee when reservations are requested.

IS THERE LUGGAGE STORAGE?
On board the train there are luggage racks above your seats and at the end of each car.

ARE THERE SENIOR FARES AVAILABLE ON EURAIL?
Some passes offer special rates for Senior travellers, but not all. Please be aware that the Saverpass is a discounted fare available when 2-5 passengers travel together. These are available on most passes.

ARE THERE DINING CARS ON ALL TRAINS?
Dining cars can be found on most long-distance trains, alternatively the train would have a bar or snack car where you can grab a snack or light meal.

WHAT CURRENCY IS USED ON THE TRAINS?
All European currencies are accepted and most trains also accept major credit cards.

ARE THERE NON-SMOKING COMPARTMENTS ON THE TRAINS?
Non-smoking compartments are becoming more popular, please ensure you request smoking if required at time of booking, as we automatically book "non-smoking" seats.

WHAT IS THE ACTUAL VALIDITY OF A ONE-MONTH PASS?
The One-month pass has a validity of one calendar month. If the first day of validity is 11 June, the pass will be valid for 30 days. However, if the travel starts on 15 October, then the final day of validity will be 14 November. In that case the pass will be valid for 31 days.

CAN I TRAVEL TO PRAGUE ON MY EURAIL PASS?
The Czech Republic is not included in your pass. Your pass is valid to the border of Germany and Austria. You can purchase a Eurail Ticket from these cities to Prague. Alternatively you can purchase the Czech Flexipass or Eastern European Pass with your Eurail Pass to ensure the entire journey is covered.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR A YOUTH PASS
You must be aged 12-25 years inclusive to purchase the Youth pass. If your birthday takes place during your journey you will still be entitled to use it.

A GROUP OF 4 PASSENGERS ARE TRAVELLING ON A EURAIL PASS. ONE PASSENGER WILL BE FINALISING HIS/HER JOURNEY SOONER THAN THE OTHERS. CAN THEY STILL PURCHASE THE SAVERPASS?
Yes, a Saverpass is simply a cheaper fare available when 2-5 passengers travel together. It allows all passengers named on the pass to use the pass as they please. Please be wary though that if one passenger is using the pass and another wants to travel on the same day to another destination, then one of the passengers will need to purchase a ticket.
