TGV France Italy

TGV France Italy begins operation on 11 December 2011. Each day, 3 services connect Paris and Milan via Lyon and Turin . From city centre to city centre, safe, comfortable and at the best price, TGV trains are the best way to travel between France and Italy.

Routes and Travel Times
Linking France and Italy with 3 daily services, this high speed train operates at speeds in excess of 280kms per hour making the trip between Paris and Milan in just over only 7 hours.

Onboard Services

Both 1st and 2nd class offers the comfort of reclining seats, ergonomic headrests and footrests, a fold-down tray table and an individual magazine carrier. The TGV trains which operate this service are currently being refurbished; the new trains are classic TGV with Christian Lacroix interior.

First Class
• First class coaches: 1 to 3 or 11 to 13
• A Solo seat for peace and privacy.
• 2 adjoining seats or a Club space for working in groups of two or four.
• A space for a person in a wheelchair is available. You must request this when making your reservation.
• Optional at seat catering is available.

Second Class
• Second class coaches 5 to 8 or 15 to 18
• 2 adjoining seats or a ’’Carré’’ space for travelling in groups of four.\The ’’Kiosque’’ (16 seats) for small groups.

• Smoking is forbidden on all TGV trains.
• A bar buffet-car: bar and food counter you can enjoy dishes, sandwiches, dessert, warm and cold beverages.
• Subway tickets for Milan and Paris can be purchased at the buffet bar.
• A nursery area with a changing table for infants.
• Information messages recorded in French, Italian and English.
• The “Salon Grand Voyageur” Lounge at Paris Gare de Lyon station welcome travellers in TGV.
• Rental of a DVD and player (10€) or just a DVD (5€) is available, there are thirty films to choose from. DVDs can be rented at the club car or from the snack cart in 1st and 2nd class
• On TGV trains, a place for a wheelchair is available in 1st class. It must be requested at the time of reservation.

Fares
Services can only be booked up to 90 days in advance.

Passholder fares:
• Passholder fares are valid for travellers holding a France Rail Pass, Eurail France-Italy Pass; Eurail Italy Pass.
• Pass needs to be validated prior to boarding train.
• The France Rail Pass can’t be validated in Italy. Likewise, the Eurail Italy Pass can’t be validated in France.
• France Rail Pass holders cannot use a Passholder fare when beginning their trip in Italy. Likewise, Eurail Italy passholders cannot use Passholder fare when beginning their trip in France.
• 2nd class pass holders can travel on any accommodation without paying any other supplement than the Passholder fares (either Pass 1 or Pass 2) While discounted fares are offered for holders of certain passes the client still needs to buy a ticket.

Fare application:
Adult: fares available in 1st and 2nd class
Child (4-11yrs): fares available in 1st and 2nd class
Travellers ages are based on age at travel departure date

Exchange/Refund
• Special cancellation fees apply to some fares.
• Exchange and refund policies vary depending on the type of fare purchased.
• Refunds can only be performed in the issuing country, up to 60 days after departure date.
• For any refund requests, tickets has to be endorsed and stamped as UNSUSED

Check-in Procedures
No specific check-in procedures
Ticket inspectors will check tickets during the journey. Customers are required to provide proof of eligibility for the fare you have chosen when requested.

To ensure the prompt departure of national and international high-speed trains, all passengers must be aboard at the latest 2 minutes prior to the departure time, after which time access to the train cannot be guaranteed.
