Seasonal Timetable Changes

Seasonal Timetable Changes

Twice a year rail companies make adjustments to their timetables. When these annual changes to seasonal timetables(winter and summer) occur it can, at times, be difficult to make reservations as most of the carrier need to reload timetables. This usually impacts reservations during June/July and December/January.

These changes often significantly impact our ability to confirm sectors, particularly with Italian and Spanish rail companies, as the volume of changes required by these companies often causes a substantial delay in the updating of their reservations systems.

On 11 December 2011, train schedules change to adapt to the winter/spring season these changes be will automatically updated in our reservations system. For most carriers the required system work for these seasonal changes is well underway and reservations will not be impacted. However it is anticipated that the required changes will not be finalised for Italian services and which means that some services will not be open for reservations.

End of Year

The international reservation system used by our rail providers has an annual end of year booking purge which results in all unpaid bookings being cancelled, regardless of whether they are confirmed or not.

Rail prices are often increased on 01 January each year and in order to secure bookings at current  year prices, it is necessary for all bookings to be fully paid and ticketed. Bookings which are on request and which cannot be confirmed or finalised prior to the end of year, will be rebooked at new prices.

2011 Deadline:
All bookings to be fully paid by midday ESDT Friday 23 December in order to guarantee bookings.
