Scenic Journey Inclusions
Swiss Scenic Journeys are a great way to experience the best of the Swiss Alps and some of Switzerland’s most picturesque cities. These journeys offer the convenience of purchasing a package with the freedom of independent travel. There are no escorts or tour guides to hurry you along, so you can explore at your own pace, secure in the knowledge that your accommodation is booked and your rail tickets arranged. Journeys can be upgraded, additional days and can be taken in reverse.

This journey includes:
• Swiss Card Peaks of the World (5 transfers) including. excursions Jungfraujoch and Gornergrat in 2nd class from/to Swiss border or airport
• 2 nights in either Interlaken or Grindelwald including breakfast
• 2 nights in Zermatt including breakfast
• Any additional tickets for optional excursions to travel by rail, boat, postal coaches and cable cars can be purchased at 25–50% of the regular fares

Itinerary
The tour operates from 1 April – 17 December:

Day 1:
Arrival in Interlaken or Grindelwald by train in 2nd class from the Swiss border or any Swiss airport.
Overnight in Interlaken or Grindelwald.

Day 2:
Excursion up to the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. The Jungfrau Railway takes you to the Jungfraujoch – at 3454 m/11’333 ft the highest railway station in Europe. Breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps.
Overnight in Interlaken or Grindelwald.

Day 3:
Travel through the wonderful Bernese Oberland to the Valais. Either via the Lötschberg base tunnel directly to Visp and further to Zermatt. Or by the Lötschberger – the new air conditioned train with big windows using the traditional scenic Lötschberg Line, passing the imposing Kander Viaduct, the helical tunnel around the Felsenburg and the descent to Brig with the imposing view onto the Rhone Valley and continue your journey to Zermatt. Zermatt, at the foot of the Matterhorn, is a world without cars. Electric-cars and horse-drawn sleighs are the only transport allowed. It’s the perfect Alpine resort for rest and relaxation.
Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 4:
Today you go on an excursion by cogwheel railway up to the Gornergrat where you will have a superb panoramic view of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and other snow-capped peaks rising to above 4000 m/13’000 ft.
Overnight in Zermatt.

Day 5:
Departure to Swiss border or airport or continue your stay and discover more of Switzerland at your own pace.

Journeys can also be made in the opposite direction.

It is possible to request a hotel, however this cannot be guaranteed.

Child Rules
Child up to 5 inclusive: free of charge in the hotels
Child up to 5 inclusive: sharing room with 2 paying adults, breakfast for child paid locally.
Child up to 5 inclusive: sharing room with 1 paying adult, the adult pays single supplement and breakfast for child paid locally.

Children from 6 up to 15 inclusive, accompanied by at least on parent, travel free on the Swiss Travel System network with the Swiss Family card (Please request at time of booking). A child (6-15yrs) requiring sole use of a room is considered as an adult and will be required to pay full supplement.

Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and modification fees will apply, the amount will be confirmed when changes required.
As soon as the booking is confirmed, cancellations and modifications will apply.
It is possible to modify a booking up to 2 business days before 1st hotel night.
Administration fees will apply to all cancellations.
If a client decides in Switzerland not to use the package, the below rules also apply.
Partial refunds of hotel nights and/or train days are not possible.

Modification fees:
Fees will apply to any change such as travel dates, hotels, additional nights, upgrades, downgrades made on existing bookings.
0% if cancellation is done up to 30 days before 1st hotel night
15% if cancellation is done between 29 and 6 days before 1st hotel night
30% if cancellation is done between 5 and 2 days before 1st hotel night
100% if cancellation is done 1 day or less before 1st hotel night

• Prices are per person, based on twin share accommodation
• 3 star accommodation is included, upgrades with the payment of a supplement are possible.
• Compulsory winter supplement from 10 January – 25 April
• Single room supplements and child rates are available.
• 2nd class travel, 1st class travel available with payment of supplement
• Reservation fees are not included, some trains will require compulsory
• Reservations and surcharges will apply.
