Where does the El Transcantábrico travel to?
The train operates in northern Spain, with itineraries Leon – Santiago de Compostela (v.v.) and San Sebastian – Santiago de Compostela (v.v.).
When does the El Transcantábrico run?
Depending on the routing, schedule services operate between May and October.
What is included in the journey price?
Prices include 7 nights accommodation in a suite on board, all meals daily (includes wines, coffee and drinks), nightly entertainment in the Pub car, scheduled excursions including entrance fees, luxury coach accompanying the train, daily press and magazines and multi lingual guide.
What sort of service can I expect on board the El Transcantábrico?
The welcoming crew will accompany you throughout the journey and will be entirely at your service for anything you may need.
What is my sleeping accommodation like?
Each suite has been especially designed for rest and privacy. Each suite features double bed, individually controlled air conditioning and heating, minibar, wardrobe, desk and telephone. They have private bedrooms with hydro-sauna, turbo massage and steam bath, as well as a hairdryer.
What is the difference between the Clasico and Gran Lujo onboard service?
Accommodation on the Clasico journey is in suite as detailed above, on the Gran Lujo journey the accommodation is in Grand Suites, with offer more cabin space including a separate living area.
Are there luggage restrictions?
There are no luggage restrictions as such however the luggage storage areas within the suites is quite restricted.
Are all meals included?
Yes. Breakfast is a self serve fare on board, while lunch and dinner are at selected local restaurants. The restaurants not only select not only select the highest quality raw materials and have them prepared by the greatest professionals; they are also the ideal setting for tasting the local cuisine. All menus include a carefully selected of wine list that blend harmoniously with the ingredients of each lunch and dinner. Coffee and liqueurs are also included.
Is it possible to request a special meal?
Yes. Passengers who require a special diet should request this when making their reservations.
What is the check-in procedure?
Details of the meeting point for check in will be advised with your documentation. This meeting point is generally a hotel in the city of embarkation. You will be welcomed by the El Transcantábrico guide. The guide will require you to provide your travel vouchers and in exchange you will be given your train tickets and baggage labels.
What languages do the staff on board the train speak?
English is spoken by most crew on board the train. All tours at conducted by multi-lingual guides.
Are there laundry facilities onboard?
There is a daily laundry service; the crew will be able to assist with any laundry requirements.
What medical services are available?
The train carries a first aid kit. The medical services of FEVE are also available to passengers it this is necessary. El Transcantábrico has contacts with various health centres along the route of the train.
