Coastal Pacific (New Zealand)

The Coastal Pacific train journey travels between the delightful port of Picton and Christchurch, the South Island’s largest city. This journey is a scenic feast of New Zealand, with the Kaikoura mountain ranges on one side of your train and the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline on the other. Along the way you pass though the village of Kaikoura, where, if you're touring New Zealand, you can break your journey to take in the whale watching or dare to get closer and swim with the dolphins.

The Coastal Pacific train travel will take you through some of New Zealand’s finest horticultural and farmland areas, and see amazing wildlife such as dolphins, seals and penguins from the comfort of your train carriage.

Route and Travel Times
The Coastal Pacific departs daily and conveniently connects up to with the Interislander Ferry departing from Picton for Wellington.

Schedule:
Depart Christchurch 7.00am Arrive Picton 12.13pm
Depart Picton 1.00pm Arrive Christchurch 6.21pm

Stations:
Christchurch - Rangiora - Waipara - Mina - Kaikoura - Seddon - Blenheim - Picton

Baggage:
• All baggage should be clearly labeled with contact details at destination
• Checked Baggage Allowance: 2 items per person, maximum weight 20 kg per item. Size must be no more than 200 linear cm (height plus length plus width).
• Baggage between 20-30kg: we require your assistance in loading and unloading your bag from the baggage van or you can repack into bags provided to meet the 20kg per item limit.
• Baggage over 30kg: will not be accepted, your baggage will need to be repacked into bags provided to meet the 20kg per item limit.
• Extra baggage (eg surfboard, bicycles) will be carried only if space is available at a cost of $10 per item per service. Hazardous or offensive items will be rejected at check-in. Hand Baggage, which is obstructing passenger areas, will be moved to the baggage van.

Smoking:
By law all trains are designated non-smoking services. Passengers may not smoke anywhere onboard.

Fares
One way and return fares are available.

Exchange/Refund
Fares are non-exchangeable and non-refundable

Check-in Procedures
Passengers are advised to be at all stations at least 20 minutes before the departure time. Timetable is subject to change and should be reconfirmed 24 hours prior to departure.
