The popularity of Bath as an elegant and exclusive retreat has remained for centuries. Immerse yourself in this glorious destination, famous for the Roman Baths, the Georgian crescent, museums and antique shops.
The British Pullman carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express originally ran on legendary 1920s services such as The Brighton Belle and Golden Arrow.
Today, each one has been restored to its former glory, giving you and your loved ones the experience of a lifetime.
From the moment you leave London on the British Pullman you are whisked away into a world of pure indulgence. Champagne flows and gourmet cuisine is served as you take in the beauty of the British countryside.
Carriages
The British Pullman carriages were described by their originator, George Mortimer Pullman, as 'Palaces on Wheels'. His description still holds true.
The original 1920s and 30s carriages have been painstakingly refurbished and are again the most sumptuous railway carriages in the world.
Each of the eleven carriages has its own name, décor and history. Minerva, for example has Edwardian-type marquetry, Zena was used in the 1976 film 'Agatha', while Perseus was reserved for Royalty, visiting Heads of State and used in Winston Churchill's funeral train in 1965.
The British Pullman can carry up to 226 passengers and the carriages seat between 20 and 26 passengers in each. On board passengers are seated in either 'coupés' (small compartments seating up to four people) or in the open car mostly at tables for two. There is a limited number of single tables and tables for three in the open car.
Dining & Cuisine
The dining experience on board the British Pullman is one of true excellence and luxury.
Chef Matthew Smith takes great prides in creating the menus onboard the British Pullman. Gourmet dining with the finest wines and Champagnes is a highlight of every journey and each menu is lovingly created around the finest seasonal delicacies from the British Isles, coaxed into simple, classic dishes by our team of chefs.
Regional menus for our journeys throughout Great Britain incorporate products from the specific area, giving our guests a true flavour of the region in which they are visiting.

This trip is also available as a Steam Hauled excursion.
Your Journey
Your journey takes you to the historic city of Bath. The hot springs first attracted the Romans to build the spa of Aqua Sulis, and the remains of the baths and other archaeological finds can be seen here. In Saxon times, King Offa founded an abbey at Bath, where King Edgar was crowned in 973. Bath's fashionable heyday came in the 18th century, when Beau Nash regulated the bathing and constructed the assembly rooms and theatres. Today, Bath is Britain's best preserved Georgian city.
A delicious Brunch with Bellini will be served on your outward journey. On arrival at Bath you will be met by guides who will accompany you on a coach tour of this delightful city taking in the famous Roman Baths and Pump Room.
The Roman Baths and Pump Room are one of the best preserved Roman sites north of the Alps, where hot mineral water rises from a spring at a temperature of 46°C. Explore the beauty of the Ancient Roman's architecture and art, and don't forget to sample the spa water from the Spa Fountain in the Grand Pump Room.
There will be a little free time for you to explore Bath on your own or, alternatively, you may prefer to spend the whole time in Bath at your leisure. You are asked to make your own way back to the station (approximately 10 minute walk). On your return journey to London Victoria, after a glass of champagne, you will be served a four course supper with half a bottle of wine.
Please note: itineraries are subject to change and full details will be confirmed with your tickets.
